8th graders will put that knowledge to the test next week as they map out a month-long budget, for a taste of adult life and the financial decisions that go with it.

The Fourth District, All-District Band will feature nine Grayson County students. Auditions for 9th and 10th grade were recently held and Devin Coon, trumpet, Riley Penny, trombone, AJ Napper, baritone, and Misty Ward, horn, were selected for the honor. They will join Ben Jackson, Noah Gawerecki, Darrenger Huff, Jackson Parker, and middle school student Mason Parker who were previously selected for the Fourth District Symphonic Band.

Lawler Elementary will host a family training on the new Footsteps2Brilliance app on Thursday, January 19, 6 pm. This opportunity is also for parents of young children not yet in school. This App is FREE for any child that lives in Grayson County from birth to school age and is available on any smartphone, tablet or computer. IPads will be available for parents to use but everyone is encouraged to bring their own device.

Eleven GCHS students have been selected to perform in the 2017 WKU Honor Band on the campus of Western Kentucky University. These musicians will perform with students from the tri-state area under the baton of guest conductors from January 26-28th, with a final concert on Saturday afternoon. We are proud of these students for their hard work!

GCMS will host Major Robert Carter of the Madisonville Police Department and KY Center for School Safety for a special public presentation Wednesday, Jan. 11, 5 pm. It's a don't miss session as Major Carter will be at the school earlier in the day to speak with each grade level about bullying and digital citizenship. Be in the know, along with your children.
